Head to your nearest waterfront for Rock Collecting, which at my house turns into rock washing and rock painting! My kids have a blast searching for fossils and neatly coloured rocks! Skipping rocks and simply throwing rocks in the water is also just so much fun!
Fence Painting
Who knew providing a few paint brushes and a bowl of water near the fence would provide the little ones with some creative fun! Rolly brushes are a hit as well.
Grab a few butterfly nets, insect containers, and a magnify glass and head to your nearest Conservation Area to explore. Don't forget your camera to capture awesome nature shots such as butterflies, birds and chipmunks! Go for a hike! Bring a blanket and picnic lunch! As we were leaving the Conservation Area my girls said "Mom that was such a fun afternoon!"
Collect Twigs
You never know what creations the kids will think up! Add in liquid glue, paper and markers and see what your little artists create!

No need to compete with Martha Stewart, just create whatever comes to your mind! Cookie cutters are available at a great low price at Bulk Barn, with all sorts of varieties! Kids don't care if its perfect as long as its something different and fun!
Sort, Count and Roll Loose Change
Oddly enough my kids ages 5 and 9 had a fun (and educational) time sorting, counting and rolling all this change. They were excited to see how much money they had once the change was all sorted, rolled and counted. Loose change really adds up!

Make a Collage!!!
This kept my kids busy for about an hour and 45 mins! They loved looking through magazines to find cute and interesting pictures. I even joined in and made a collage as well! This is an overall relaxing and fun activity for all.

Unsure of what to do with all of those stuffed animals?? Here are a few ideas below!....
Have a Stuffed Animal Wedding!
Animal Rescue Centre
Animal Salon
We took out little combs, pretend scissors (avoid if your child isn't old enough to know that you never use real scissors) pretend clippers and a toy laptop. My little one booked the animals in for their appointments and did a wonderful job, pretend washing, cutting and styling their hair. This salon even offers free nail clipping!!! Quite the pampering experience!
Paper Bag Puppets

How we made this:
Shake for a glitterrific experience!
How we made this:
- Filled a Mason jar with water, along with some glitter and confetti.
- Added in 3-4 drops of glycerine (purchased at the pharmacy) then applied lid.
- Selected two types of ribbon to jazz it up! Next I glue gunned the leopard print ribbon onto the lid for my daughters and tied the pink polka ribbon around the jar!
Flower Petal Art

I purchased these boxes from the Dollar Store along with some stickers, pom poms and decorative buttons. Take out the liquid glue and let the kids go nuts designing a trinket box! It's perfect for all their little nick nacks and such a fun little activity.
The fort need not be anything fancy, a few blankets and some chairs will do. My daughter played in this little fort for over an hour and it took me a total of 4 minutes to put together and take d own.
Make a Pen and
Pencil Holder - You will need a clean tin can, scrapbook paper (to cut and wrap around can), ribbon and/or stickers and voila!!! A cute and useful Pen and Pencil Holder at your service!
My kids had a blast doing this!
My daughter used her own money to buy some special rocks at a Rock and Mineral booth. The lady selling them was nice enough to talk about the rocks, where they are each found and the supposed health benefits and meaning of each rock, which was very interesting. The picture on the bottom right are Simpsons dolls and a coin bank that I had back in the day! What a blast from the past!
Soapy Water Play
While I was cleaning the kitchen my 5 year old daughter asked if I could fill the sink up with some soapy water for her. She grabbed her step stool, a bowl, a strainer, a funnel and a spoon and played in this warm soapy water for a half hour. Simple and apparently fun!
