- Plan Your Food; ie meal, cake, night time snacks and breakfast for the next day. We did pizza and cupcakes, then chips and m & ms for movie time and Waffles with whipped cream, fruit and chocolate chips for breakfast. (Not the healthiest of food choices that weekend but oh so yummy and fun!). Make sure you have enough drinks on hand, partying is hard work and can make the little ladies quite thirsty! *Buy blank sticker labels and label the girls cups to avoid mix ups or wasting of drinks.

- What will you do for Loot Bags? We opted to have the kids decorate their own bag to collect their loot in! This served as a party activity and the idea was the loot was handed out as the party went on as a result of group game prizes and crafts!
- Enlist some help; Your husband, a relative or a friend can help you pour drinks, serve food, organize games and crafts, clear wrapping paper from the floor, grab extra drinks when kids get thirsty again etc etc etc...help is a good thing.
- Make a list of Activities, Games and/or Crafts to do!
We kicked the party off with a stuffed Animal Filled, home made Punc
h box (This was a last minute idea so this one wasn't fancy but it was a total hit) - I picked up 3 boxes from the LCBO (with dividers inside), turned 2 of the boxes on their side, filled dividers with small stuffed animals.
- Cut off part of the extra box to make cardboard square support and divider that you see.
- Attached tissue paper to cardboard support divider and duct tape that to front of box
- Each section has been divided and ready to be Punched!
I printed Animal Adoption papers off the Internet. Each guest received a different animal, they then went to the table to fill out the Adoption Certificate with the B-day girl. They now had a stuffy to cuddle with at movie time and bedtime. As I peaked in on them early in the morning each 9 and 10 year old girl was cuddled up to their new stuffy fast asleep.
Basically the girls sat in a circle and you play music as they pass around a bag full of dress up gear (we filled the bag with, silly hats, crazy hair bands, bunny ears, tiaras, funny wigs, Hawaiian Leis, a ninja Turtle mask, funky sunglasses and more) When the music stops, whoever is holding the bag must take an item out of the bag and put it on. If the music stopped on a person who already had a turn, they can pass it to the person beside them or quickly select a different item to add to their costume and continue to pass the bag along until all of the items are gone or until everyone looks hilarious! There was no shortage of giggles with this activity! Next have the kids pose for a group picture all jazzed up in their funny gear! The group picture was hilarious and we actually ended up printing one for each girl to have a super fun memory of the Slumber Party! The next thing we knew the girls lined up their sleeping bags on the floor to make a "Run Way", blasted the tunes, mixed and matched the dress up gear and put on a fashion show for us parents! They even made the adults dress up silly and walk the run way when they were done! It's safe to say that the Dress Up Bag was a hit!
Next up, we played Pass The Present. The girls sat in a circle again, music blasting. when the music stopped the girl holding the present got to unwrap one of the multiple layers of wrapping paper. This went on until the last girl unwrapped a stack of Mad Libs books and animal print pens (one for each girl to add to their loot bag) The girls took turns thinking up funny words for the Mad Libs stories and read them out loud, this provided a ton of laughs! |
"The Memory Game" I think we all played this at least once at a party as a kid! All you need is some paper and pens along with a tray full of random items! The girls get a minute to observe the tray before it is hidden and they have to remember as many items as they can to win. The person who remembered and wrote down the most items within the required time, wins! If there is a tie, secretly remove one item from the tra
y. The first person to shout out which item is missing, wins! The Slumber Party Cre
w l oved making Glitteriffic Glitter Jars! - Fill a Mason jar with water, along with some glitter and confetti.
- Add in 3-4 drops of glycerin (purchased at the pharmacy), 1-2 drops of food colouring (depending on how dark you want colour of water to be. Apply lid.
- Pick two types of ribbon to jazz it up! Next glue gun the ribbon around the lid (adult job) and tie the other ribbon around the jar!
In between the games, activities and crafts, we did pizza, cake and presents. I also encouraged 15-20 minutes between each game, where the kids played in the basement, ran around the backyard or danced. After the the festivities the girls got their pj's on, layed out their sleeping bag and pillows (cuddled their new stuffies they just received at the party) and watched a movie with some yummy snacks. It was now time to unwind! After all the party fun, the girls were ready for some down time! They thoroughly enjoyed the movie and after some chatting and giggles set
The next morning, I awoke before the kids, they were all snuggled into their sleeping bags at 8:30am. They weren't sleeping for long since our 1 year old Golden Retriever followed me down and woke them each up with a sloppy puppy kiss. I then prepped breakfast as the Sleeping Beauties began to stir.
My daughter's breakfast of choice? A Waffle Bar! (with a few boxes of cereal in case waffles weren't to somebodies liking, luckily they were a huge hit)
tled to sleep afterwards..ok it was late probably close to 1:30am but whose counting? We all remember those days! More Fun Slumber Party Activities:
- Play MASH (Mansion, Apartment, Shack, House) You then select four possible boys, four pets, four careers and four vehicles. The person choosing them picks a number between 1 and 5 and the person asking the questions counts to that number and scratches off the answer when they get to the counted number. They then count again and continue crossing off answers until each section is left with one result. This person below, lives in a house with Austin and Ally/R5 band member Ross Lynch (for pretend), they o wn a tiger, they are a farmer and they drive a scooter!
- Have A Spot Dance; get the girls up dancing all around the room. ..write down a certain spot in the room and when you stop the music whoever is closest to that spot is the winner!
- Nail Painting..always always fun!
- Charades! such a classic!
- Do Wii Dance, if you don't have a Nintendo Wii you can find most of the dances on Youtube! So line the girls up in front of your computer and let them follow along with a dance routine.
